The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) provides wind and hail coverage for 14 coastal counties and parts of Harris County where private carriers won't write wind peril.

Coastal Texas faces significant flood risk from hurricanes and tropical storms. After Hurricane Harvey, flood awareness increased dramatically. Many inland areas also face flash flood exposure.
